Personal statement:  My primary goal as a faculty member here at CSUF is to:  a) provide our students with the types of educational, and clinical training that will enable them to work effectively with children and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, no matter where in the state, country or world their future professional lives might take them; b) help our students develop the type of critical thinking skills that would enable them to pursue future research opportunities in our field at the Ph.D. level and beyond, if they should ever decide to choose that path, and c) help our students learn the types of  professional advocacy skills that are important for becoming fully functioning members and powerful voices in our national, state and local associations on issues of relevance to the field and the diverse communities that we serve.

Clinical Emphasis:  Child language development and disorders, with a primary focus on the language development, assessment, and delivery of clinical services to children from African American and bilingual backgrounds.

Scholarly/Research Emphasis:  Child language development, disorders, and assessment with children from diverse cultural and language backgrounds.
