Headline writing
1 col = 10p9 = 1.79 inches
2 col = 22p6 = 3.75 inches
3 col = 34p3 = 5.70 inches
4 col = 46p0 = 7.67 inches
5 col = 57p9 = 9.62 inches
6 col = 69p6 = 11.50 inches

Use Arial or another san serif font for headlines and New Times Roman or Times Roman for drop heads, which are always 15 points.

Use the “down” style for headlines, with only the first word of the head and any proper nouns capitalized.

Editing assignments
All editing assignments must be turned in typed, double spaced, using 12-point type with the corrections already made. You can make minor, last-minutes, corrections with a pen or pencil.

You must include a note on the story justifying any major rewrite of the lead or reorganization of the story.

Briefs: Edit each of these stories from the Chap 12 exercises on the course Web site to about 150 words each and write 1-col, 18-pt, 2-lines heads for each one on using the 8.5 x 11 InDesign template:
