Application Paper #2
Your second application format should follow the same format as your
first paper. You should selec=
t a
specific theory, concept, principle, or process of persuasion, social
influence, and/or compliance gaining.
Explain the theory and how it works, then provide a real-life
application of it at work. You
should build a bridge between the theory and persuasion in the real world.<=

You may select any theory concept, principle, or process covered in
class or in the text. You must
select a different topic than your first paper, however. You should come up with your own e=
xample
or illustration of how the particular theory relates to a real-life setting.
Don’t simply repeat an example from the text.
Based on the first round of papers, I’d suggest the
following: Devote more time to
developing your application in depth and detail. Most of you did a good job of expl=
aining
or summarizing the theory, but some of you did not do as good a job of appl=
ying
it to a real-life setting.
Don’t simply gloss over the application section. Explain nuances of the theory, con=
cept,
or strategy and how they apply to your particular illustration.
You will be evaluated on how clearly and concisely you explain the
theory, concept, principle, or process, and how meaningful and relevant your
application of the particular theory is. Your paper should be 5-7 pages (ty=
ped,
double-spaced). Writing
style matters. You should carefully proof-read your paper for
typographical, spelling, and grammatical errors. If you cite material from the text,
indicate the page number(s). =
If you
cite sources outside the text, provide complete references. Direct quotatio=
ns
require page numbers. The pap=
er is
worth 25% of your grade in the class.
