
Patty Malone, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor
Human Communication Studies
Patty Malone has three degrees in communication: a Ph.D. in Communication
Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Science
in Speech Communication from the University of Southern Mississippi
in Hattiesburg, and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from
California State University Sacramento.
She has been teaching courses in “Interviewing Skills, Principles,
and Practices” for the last six years at California State University
Fullerton and the University of Texas at Austin. In addition, she
has taught classes in business and professional communication skills,
introduction to human communication, and sales briefings and presentations.
She is currently the Internship Director for the Department of Human
Communication Studies.
She has also been hired by business schools to coach their MBA students
in preparing for the interview. She facilitated a two-week workshop
on professional communication skills for MBA students sponsored by
the Red McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin
in the Fall of 2003 and 2004. A substantial portion of the workshop
consisted of training interviewing skills as well as presentation
skills and group presentation skills.
In addition, she facilitated weekly sessions throughout the semester
training MBA students in interviewing and professional presentation
skills for their Speakeasy sessions sponsored by MBA Speakeasy students
at the Red McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at
Austin in the Fall of 2003. She has also conducted workshops for the
Center of Ethical Leadership at the University of Texas at Austin.
Previously, she worked as a Television News Anchor in California
and Nevada, in Public Affairs for General Dynamics, and as a Sales
Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics. She has won numerous awards for her
news, sales, corporate achievements, and academia.
She loves the beach, traveling, and being with friends.
