Assignment 7: Picture Story Pictures 1

You should have selected a person to do a story about homelessness by now. Your picture story will contain five different kinds of pictures:

… overall scene-setter: describe in one picture the essence of your story. The photograph should readily place the main subject in a clear context for the reader

… head and shoulders portrait: preferably a candid moment that clearly identifies your subject for the reader and that reveals the person's personality

… close-up detail: a tightly cropped image of an object or of your subject that tends to symbolize the person's personality and story

… medium distance interaction: a picture that shows the person communicating with some other person

… ending picture: an image that sums up and concludes the set of pictures as if your work was a narrative story

Shoot AT LEAST five pictures for EACH category above. Pick the best one from each category. Scan it and print it with a black and white printer. Pick out your most favorite image. Print it with a color printer. Make your prints as close to 8" x 10" as possible. Write on the back of all of your pictures the category to which they belong. For the five select prints, write cutlines for each one.

Turn in all the pictures you took, five black & white printouts, one color printout, and the cutlines in your colored folder.
