Assignment 24: Online Video

Shoot one-minute of video that explains something about your person or the situation generally. The video will be included on the website. There will be no editing of the video. Use the step-by-step guides below:

1. Connect a camera or VCR to a computer in the Mac lab. Use RCA connectors. For most of you, put the red cord into the yellow "in" jack and the white cord into the white "in" jack.
2. Launch Video Player (From the Apple icon, select Miscellaneous and then Apple Video Player).
3. From Windows, Select Normal Size and Show Controls. From Setup, select Preferences and then check Movie Compression: Most, Remote Control: None, MPEG Movies: Look on Hard Disks, and Video: NTSC.
4. In Controls window, click the top icon: Video camera.
5. Play and cue the tape a few seconds before you want to record.
6. Reduce Window to smallest size for best recording. Roll tape and click "Record" in "Capture Movie." When you have your minute of video, click the "Stop" button.
7. Save the movie as "mymovie.mov" WITHIN THE STUDENT FOLDER.
8. Quit Apple Video Player. Launch MoviePlayer (From the hard drive, select Applications and then MoviePlayer).
9. From the File menu, select Export. Name your movie with the first three letters of your last name plus movie.mov. My movie would be lesmovie.mov. Select "Movie to Quicktime Movie" file format. Click on the Options button. Make sure video, sound, and "Fast Start for the Internet" are checked. Click Okay and save the movie to your Zip disk.
10. Put the original movie in the Student Folder in the trash and empty the trash.
11. Bring your Zip disk to my office so I can upload it to the Server.
