Assignment 13: QuarkXPress 2

In this assignment you will further manipulate text to create a more complex layout.

This step-by-guide pertains to the version in the Mac lab.

… Press the Command + F keys to get the Find File application. Type in "Lorem Ipsum" to see if your computer has the file. If not, you need to move to another computer. If so, remember where it is located
… Open QuarkXPress
… In File, create a New file with a Document Setup of 8" x 11" with .5" margins all around. Your work area will then be 7" x 10"
… In View, show Tools, Rules and Measurements
… Zero lock the top-left margin to 0
… Use the Type tool to type your name, assignment number and date at the bottom-right margin
… Select the Picture tool. Make a box of any size
… In File, select Get Picture. Use the image "oyster.pct" in the folder Mardi Gras within the folders New Orleans, Pictures, Pictures&Text, Lester, and Instructor Folders. Within the Item menu, select Modify and type in 150 within both the "Scale Across" and "Scale Down" boxes. Click OK
… In Item, select Frame. Make a 1pt black border around the image
… Use the Move tool to move the picture to .75" x 0" on the margin
… Use the Type tool to create SIX separate text boxes
… "Shocking Picture" headline: Helvetica, 18pt, and Bold
… "Congressman Starr" subhead: Helvetica, 12pt, Bold and Italic
… "Byline": (Use your name) Helvetica, 12pt, Plain
… Body copy: In File, select Get Text. Find the dummy text file "Lorem Ipsum" usually in the folder named "Crow". Make the text Times, 10pt, Justified and Plain. (NOTE: You will need to use the Delete key to fill in a gap in the copy). Donšt worry about matching up the dummy text exactly.
… Cutline: Use the "Lorem Ipsum" text, Helvetica, 12pt, justified, and Italic
… "AD GOES HERE": Helvetica, 60pt and Bold
… Put in a 2pt rule
… Adjust text blocks to resemble closely the work below
… Print your work on the black and white printer
