Visual Literacy Discussions
This section contains three articles having to do with new media concerns related to visual journalism.Digital Literacy: Visual Communication and Computer Images is a history of computer generated images and the lessons learned for visual communication production and analysis. Digital Hegemony: The Clash Between Words and Pictures refers to the historic clash between words and pictures and how this struggle between the two media of expression (and those who produce stories in one or the other) does not have to continue in this new age of visual journalism. Syntactic Theory of Visual Communication, Part One describes the first part of a theory by one of the authors that attempts to further strengthen the bond between words and images for telling stories within journalistic contexts.
